Minneapolis

I did a report on a city/town and I chose Minneapolis.

Minneapolis is a city in the state of Minnesota in the USA. It was founded in 1867 and a few years later merged with another little town called Saint Anthony but they kept the name Minneapolis. Today it has more than 3.5 million people in it. It was named Minneapolis because mni is the Dakota word for water and polis is the Greek word for city.

The Mall of America was opened on August 11^th 1992. It is the biggest mall in America and was designed by the architect Jon Jerde. It has more than 500 stores as well as a theme park called Nickelodeon Universe and an attraction called Underwater Adventures Aquarium. It has a hotel inside the mall so you can stay overnight.

The singer Prince, Sticky tape, and Green Giant vegetables were created in Minneapolis. It also has the world’s oldest running theater.

Minneapolis is the home of three sports teams: Minnesota Twins which is baseball,

Minnesota Vikings which is American football, and the Minnesota Timberwolves which is basketball.
