Carlen's Blog
This weekend we were driving out to Sydney for a teacher exchange meeting and all the “tag alongs” went on a walk but on the way to Sydney we saw a wombat eating on the side of the road! On the walk, we went to a library that had a glass floor and underneath the glass was a miniature model of Sydney, and went to the opera house, and to a food court for lunch and I had a sandwich.

Later before supper, we went a pub that the kids were allowed on the top floor only. Then for supper, we went to a restaurant called Philip’s Foote where you grill the meat yourself to your own liking but for some reason, you still have to leave a tip :P.

The next day we went on a cruise at 9:00 and cruised around the entire Sydney Harbour and stopped for lunch at the other side of the harbor for sandwiches and salad. When we got back on the boat my mom saw a penguin and there was a netted-off area for swimmers to keep the sharks away.

They announced who had won the prizes for a quiz about the harbor for the kids and I got an Australia rubber wrist band.

When we got off the boat my parents and I went over to the art museum and there was a Yoko Ono exhibit. We got picked up and went to Bondi Beach and had a ton of fun.

On the way back from Sydney we saw a koala up close in the wild. It was within touching distance then it climbed down the tree and tan to the other side of the road and climbed up a different tree! We also saw some wallaroos and kangaroos on the way back to Coona. Hope you had a fantastic Valentine’s day! <3

that’s something I’ve always wanted to see in the wild ,a Koala
WOW! What an amazing weekend you had!!! I would so love to see wild penguins, koalas, and wombats on the side of the road! I heard it was raining quite a bit on the drive home, was it scary? Are there many other Canadians on Teacher Exchanges? How is school going?
Hi Carlen,
What a fun time you are having! How cool that you are seeing so many of the animals in the wild. I ate at Phillips’s Foote when I was in Sydney years ago. I love Sydney harbour and the Opera House. How lucky to be a tag along and get to do so much. How is school going? Are you making lots of friends. Many years ago when I lived in Sydney I did a run from the town hall in Sydney out to Bondi. It was called the City to Surf race. It is quite an amazing beach. You have already seen so much of Australia! Good fun! Enjoy!
You are so lucky to see all those animals in their natural habitats! I LOVE seeing wildlife (other than in zoos)!
Bondi Beach looks enormous! I bet that is more sand than I have seen in 10 years!
I love reading your blogs, especially about all the different animals. Keep ’em comin’!
Really enjoy your postings Carlen. Keep up the good work.
School is going very well. It is a little hard sometimes with the accent but i am making lots of friends and having fun at chess club. There are quite a few teachers on exchanges from Canada as well.
My school has a little more than three hundred kids and there are 29 kids in my class. Thanks for reading my blog. I love getting your responses to my posts.
Wow Carlen
It sounds like you guys are having an awesome time. That koala bear must have been really cool. I think the funniest part is that you are called tag-alongs…keep on tagging.
It was really cool! Did you know? That koalas aren’t actually bears.
